At the time of writing, Uwe Gemballa, 51-year-old head of the Gemballa tuning concern, is missing. He had filed for insolvency (maybe because of projects like the Enzo-based Gemballa MIG-U1), and named his mother as head of a new company. But he's being investigated by authorities for financial impropriety, and there are reports of vehicles being impounded. Gemballa went to South Africa, supposedly to meet Czech billionaire Radovan Krejcir, with a plan to set up a franchise in Johannesburg. Then he fell off the grid. German police came back from there with nothing. South African officials think he may have gone to Angola. Incidentally, Krejcir won't be going back home to the Czech Republic for a while. He's wanted for conspiracy to murder, forgery, tax evasion, extortion, and abduction.
