The annual SEMA trade show gets tons of attention for its wild cross-section of custom cars, but the event’s meat and potatoes has always been aftermarket parts and the industry that supports them. This year the 2013 SEMA Show New Products Showcase was tucked away on the second floor at the back of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s South Hall and offered a wide array of parts for an equally diverse range of vehicles.
From the showcase we culled the biggest boost bits to hit the aftermarket – read on for a snapshot of what’s coming down the pike in the world of forced induction.
Auto Meter Boost Controller
This thing won a New Product Award at SEMA and is an innovative, advanced approach to boost control housed within the form factor of a 52mm Auto Meter gauge. It flosses multiple boost settings and a configurable display that can be set up to show an overboost warning and peak boost recall, among other parameters. All necessary senders and solenoid are included.
BorgWarner Turbo Systems EFR 6258
This is the company’s smallest and fastest spooling turbo in the EFR line. The 62mm OD compressor has a 49.6mm inducer rated at 44lb/min max flow, while the compressor wheel is versatile with a very large map width. The low inertia 58mm Gamma-Ti turbine wheel is optimally matched for maximum response and fast spool with the FMW compressor wheel. EFR 6258 uses the smallest-sized EFR compressor housing, making fitment in the tightest engine bays possible.
Comp Turbo Technology CT Billet 91X 106 Triplex Ceramic Turbocharger
Features of the CT Billet 91X 106 Triplex ceramic turbo include: full billet aluminum center section; patented triplex ceramic ball bearings; lightweight Inconel 10-blade turbine wheel; billet compressor wheel; and XHF extended tip. It’s available with T4, T6 and V-band inlet turbine housings.
