By now you must've noticed your newsstands are missing a few titles such as Import Tuner, Honda Tuning, and Modified. While these titles are gone in its print state, they are not forgotten. As the last one standing Super Street is slowly incorporating the styles these great magazines once featured including VIP.
The VIP style, also pronounced bippu, uses many of the same elements seen in a stance build with the exception of car platform - cars sitting low, deep dish wheels, and extreme negative camber. Normally, this style leans towards luxury carmakers such as Lexus and Infinitis, but can also include Toyotas, Nissans, and even Hondas.
Unless you are deep in the VIP scene, chances are you haven't heard of Central Pine. Located in Anjo Aichi Japan, Central Pine is popular for its original aero pieces, but also specializes in custom sheet metal aero for a one-off appearance. The company has made its way to the USA and hosted its grand opening in Orange, California where Sam runs the shop. In addition to bodywork, Central Pine makes custom VIP style LED taillights and head lights. You won't find mass production machines here; everything is carefully constructed by hand. As you can imagine, customization doesn't come cheap.
That day a few of the local car crews showed up including Pure VIP, BP VIP, Royal Origin. One car that stood out was from the Empire VIP Family crew that brought a Y33 Cima or Infiniti Q45 driven by Lee Cruz. It's one of those cars where you hate it or love it, but you have to give props to Lee for driving static.
Make sure to give a ring to Central Pine if you need any VIP work done in Orange County. They are on 2324 N Batavia St. Unit 102 Orange, California 92865 and the number to the USA shop number is (657)-224-9718.
