The four-day long SEMA show can be quite overwhelming at first; however, break it down from hall to hall and it gets a bit more manageable. One of the most popular and largest sections of the show is the Central Hall, where you’ll find Racing & Performance, Hot Rod Alley, and Restoration Marketplace. This is where you’ll find some of the most straight-up, unapologetic car builds of the year. As a trade-only event, not everybody has access to the show, but we’ve gathered a few cars that we thought you might want to know about.
CHRIS FORSBERG’S DATSUN 510 WAGON
Not only does Forsberg know how to build a drift car, he’s pretty good at building show quality cars. You’ve already seen his RB25 Datsun 280Z, but this year he’s in full force (see what I did there) building a ’72 Datsun 510 wagon. This time around the widebody wagon isn’t really for him but rather his wife. The restomod wagon has Wilwood brakes, a Mishimoto cooling system, and coolest of all is the built SR20DET swap. He went for reliability and good ol’ fashion cruising fun with this build. The project wagon was in the AEM Electronics booth.
DIONNE MASCUNANA’S PORSCHE CAYMAN
One of the wildest Porsche’s of the year has be Dionne’s Cayman we found at the Spyder booth. We have to give props to Dionne for making a lot of his aero parts himself, such as the canards and diffuser. He has a baller suspension setup and a sick Porsche style livery.
LEXUS TUNED LEXUS LC500
How do you make the Lexus LC 500 even sexier than it is already? Give it to Gordon Ting and watch him work his magic. Sweet wheels and widebody aero transforms the LC into one aggressive car. The car was spotted the moment you entered the Central Hall at the Lexus booth.
GOOICHI MOTORS MAZDA RX-7
While we love the rotary motor, we can’t help but stare at the LS swapped Rocket Bunny Mazda RX-7 sitting pretty at the Auto Meter booth. We don’t want to give a lot away; you’ll just have to wait until we feature this one.
HENRY DUONG’S SCION FR-S
If car porn is what you’re looking for, you’ll definitely find it at Mackin Industries’ booth. Henry Duong has transformed his FR-S utilizing a Varis Kamikaze widebody kit and is packing heat under the hood with a Blitz turbo kit. We can’t wait to see this one on the streets.
