Canada's finest European automotive event is in its third season and Eurokracy Montreal expanded to Napierville Dragway for 2013. This allowed VAG fans to discover a full NHRA-approved quarter-mile drag strip, which handily doubled as a burnout competition staging area.
Thousands of spectators descended from as far away as Winnipeg, Manitoba, Atlanta, and one pair even came all the way from Germany with imported Touaregs.
New events for 2013 included, the Neck Breaker - the world's first closed-circuit low-car competition. What made this different from the typical limbo bar was a speed hump added directly after exiting the limbo stage. This got the crowd going when they heard the bumps, scrapes and bangs as cars navigated their way over the mortal enemy.
Official pre-parties and after-parties were held at nightclubs in the heart of downtown Montreal. This kept spectators entertained until the sun rose for the show.
The passion of VAG-fans in the North is crazy. We've been to plenty of shows and, being a Canadian myself, I can certainly testify to the mayhem that comes with a Euro show of this magnitude: especially one on home turf. I'll certainly be back next year and recommend you staying on good behavior to ensure to you can get through customs more easily! Once across... go nuts at Eurokracy!
