It was the third edition of Honda Fest at the Autodrome St-Eustache that is just north of Montreal, Canada. After experiencing what seemed like months of rain, the skies cleared in time for the big event. Growing year after year, Honda Fest is produced by Jason Labrosse, who, incidentally, is one of the owners of the Autodrome St-Eustache facility.
With over 4,000 people in attendance, the venue was jam-packed with intense drag action throughout the day. Big names from the Quebec Drag racing community made their way to the event, including former Quebec drag legend Jason Budd, who dusted off his drag car after five years in honor of the event.
The main event was almost a last man standing ordeal as many of the racers experienced mechanical issues. The semi-finals were special as they were heads up based on two out of three races--which took its toll on the cars. MD Tuning's Civic blew its transmission, but thanks to the team, was able to face off with Andre Hart, who also gave MD a bit of extra time to get the car fixed. GotBoost's twin charged Civic lost a blower belt at the line while lining up against the RD turbo Civic. GotBoost was lucky that his competitor was gracious enough to grant some additional time before the race to rectify the problem. The final race in the Open Class came down to GotBoost and MD Tuning. MD blew an axle at the launch and almost went into the wall giving the win to GotBoost, who was well off pace, but proved that reliability is critical, especially on race day.
