It was another scorching day in Aberdeen, MD back in July when Turner Motorsport was the presenting sponsor of BimmerFest East 2013. Fortunately, the weather gods decided to spare the crowded parking lots and vendor booths from last year's biblical downpour, making it a memorable event for all the right reasons.
We walked the rows of classic Roundel models, rare editions, and even vehicles driven from as far as Canada, not to mention a few high-mileage cars that shone like new. But it was the modified machinery that really caught our eye. There were tuned Bimmers wherever you turned, offering something for all tastes, from retro E30 and E36, to some sweet modified 2002s and lots of E46 and E92. Sadly, the latest F30 is still rather thin on the ground, with less on show than at Bimmerfest's West Coast event (EC 10/13), but we're sure to see numbers increase when the new 4 Series emerges later this year.
In the vendor area, the usual big names competed for attention, with Turner Motorsport arguably creating the best display. It was headlined by a row of Frozen Gray cars, including genuine factory M cars as well as vehicles like the vinyl-wrapped E46 M3 supercharged. It sat at one end of the booth, with Turner's Grand-Am racecar at the other end.
Auto Couture Motoring, Bimmerworld, Mode Carbon and Morr Wheels came out to show off their goods by displaying cars with quality work. Even BMW North America made an appearance with cars dressed in its M Performance parts.
At the end of the day, it was another superb Bimmerfest show for the East Coast crowd, with the Maryland event growing in stature each of its three short years.
