Over the past year, we’ve become a bit fanatical when it comes to the new-generation 86—or in more familiar speak: the FR-S/BRZ. (You have seen our Garage FR-S project, right?) And we’re not the only ones. Enter 86Fest, crafted by Antonio Alvendia of MotorMavens, which is an event that caters specifically to all things Hachi-Roku, from the original AE86 right on up to the ZN6/ZC6 chassis. Taking over Cal Speedway’s infield portion, a large part of SoCal’s FR-S/BRZ community came out (and some from other faraway portions of the US) to come hang with their fellow enthusiasts. Vendor participation was extremely strong, seeing the likes of Turn 14 Distribution, GReddy, Mackin Industries and many more with tons of raffle prizes, and those who were up for the challenge could test their cars on an autocross setup. 86Fest has doubled in size since its first event in 2012 and we can easily see this becoming the premiere event for 86 fans for years to come.
