HKS Premium Day Details:
- Held at Fuji Speedway, Japan
- Tuners had a chance to compete in time trials
- Premium Bazaar with Japanese vendors
- HKS GT1000+ GTR vehicle shakedown
The people of Japan know how to start off a year correctly. Even after the madness that is Tokyo Auto Salon, HKS still hosts its annual Premium Day to close out the month of January. Recently, HKS fans were invited to Fuji Speedway for a day of sensory overload. For years HKS has catered to the tuner's need for premium aftermarket parts. But what exactly is there to do at an HKS Premium Day?
For one there are exhibition track runs taking place at the world-class circuit. Afterwards you can soak up inspiration from enthusiasts at the HKS Customized-Car Carnival. Then you can check out the latest tuner trends at the vendor village called the Premium Bazaar that included popular brands such as Do-Luck, Yashio Factory, and Vertex. A separate section called the Premium Salon featured HKS' latest and greatest products as well.
The brand proudly stretched the legs of the HKS Nissan GT1000+ GTR in a time attack, which our very own Senior Editor Scott Tsuneishi had the opportunity of riding shotgun - lucky him! Fans were even allowed to test drive a few HKS demo cars including the Toyota GT86, Subaru BRZ, Honda CR-Z, and the Nissan GT-R equipped with the GT600 Sport Package. A talk show was held on stage with a few popular racing drivers including Nobutero Taniguchi, Manabu Orido, and even Eiji "Tarzan" Yamada - all of which were accompanied by lovely umbrella girls.
Founded in 1973 HKS is still going strong. We only hope the best for the company that has given so much to the Japanese aftermarket performance industry. Here is to making parts that make our cars faster and for hosting one of the most amazing events of the year - thank you HKS.
