After having established themselves as the largest Honda-specific event in the country, Javier Ortega and the Honda Day staff are looking to branch out. First stop: Orlando, Florida.
Well known as a long time hotbed for Honda enthusiasts, Orlando's Speedworld dragway would play host to Honda Day's inaugural visit during the two-day event. With a reputation for packing the stands and bringing intense dragrace action, over 250 racers showed up for competition. Add to that the 600-plus car show participants and more than 10,000 visitors and you have the formula for what could very well end up being a staple in the Florida area.
As with Honda Day mega-events in New Jersey, there was no shortage of quality vendors on hand, including GoTuning/Spoon Sports, Downstar Inc., Vraceworks, EatSleepRace, and K-Tuned. If vendors, dragrace action, and hundreds of car show displays weren't enough to make your day, a stage was set up with entertainment and countless sponsor giveaways. Oh, and don't think that because Orlando was a brand new location, that Ortega didn't have something special up his sleeve. As with previous events, a modified car was given away in a raffle that every attendee was able to enter. The vehicle; a 2001 Integra Type R stuffed with a DC5 Type R swap, was handed over to one lucky fan.
The next Honda Day event is happening at Atco, NJ, on the weekend of April 12-13th, but what Florida fans want to know is; will there be an Orlando event next year? Time will certainly tell, but you can keep tabs on upcoming Honda Day events by logging onto their website for news, info, and Honda Day apparel as well!
