As cooler temperatures sweep through most places in the mainland during winter, warm tropical weather and sandy beaches are just another day when it comes to parlaying in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on my home turf, known as the little U.S. territory island of Guam. It was also the spot where Mark Arcenal decided to host his last Slammed Society show of 2013 this past December, and he made sure to bring out a few special guests, like Mr. Rocket Bunny himself, Kei Miura, and Japanese pro drifter, Kenji Yamanaka.
Guam’s a small town but we managed to pull in close to 200 of the island’s best cars, bikes and trucks to fill up the quarter-mile oval track of the Guam International Raceway. You had your standard SS features, including plenty of local cars on display, the final round of the Proline Drift Series and a local drift series sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, GoPro, Napa Auto Parts and Outback Steakhouse. It also featured a 3-on-3 B-Boy battle, graffiti competition and a sneaker meet with the help of local promoters Upshift Ent. and AN Films, who collaborated with Fatlace to put on this inaugural event.
Though it rained heavily throughout the event, Slammed Society Guam went off in a way we totally expected, and you can be sure the show will be making its way back around sometime this year. Hope to see you there!
