Auto Enthusiast Day Details:
- Free admission event at Angel Stadium, CA
- Apexi Mazda RX-7 Demo Car display
- Nitto Formula D drivers drift demo
- 8,000 spectators and 700+ cars
Nitto Tire, a leading manufacturer of off-road and street performance tires hosted its 2nd annual Auto Enthusiast Day, this time at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California. The weather wasn't the typical sunny SoCal weather, but more like the humid Florida climate. Being a free admission event, there was no lack of foot traffic especially near the Nitto booth where they were raffling out prizes such as exhaust systems, cold air intakes, suspension components, led lighting kits, driveshaft kits, and more.
Some of the best builds around were displayed such as Bernardo's Liberty Walk Nissan GTR, Mark Arcenal's RWB Porsche 911, and Bulletproof Automotive's Concept Scion FR-S. Apexi brought out the old Mazda RX7 demo car and sure enough brought memories of Youichi Imamura's drifting from D1GP.
Additionally, Nitto put on a drift demo that extended a quarter-mile long and included Formula D drivers Matt Powers, Vaughn Gittin Jr., Chelsea Denofa, Matt Field, and Odi Bakchis. Solos became tandems and tandems became group drifts.
"This was the biggest turnout we have ever seen, significantly larger than the 1st event last year at Fontana Speedway," says Nitto Tire Brand Publishing/Social Media Strategist Harry Kong. "We had about 8,000 spectators come out to the show."
At one point the event caused a few traffic jams on the 5 freeway. This was Nitto's way of giving back to the automotive community as well as to its partners who have helped the industry grow.
"We wanted to keep this a family friendly event so enthusiasts of all generations could truly enjoy what a car show should be," says Kong. "We will be returning again next year, but I can't spill the beans on the details yet. Of course, we will come back even bigger and better."
