For the fifth consecutive year the Donald E. Stephens convention center in Rosemont, IL, played host yet again to Chicagoland's first official tuner car show of the year, Tuner Galleria. Just around 200 entered the event filling more floor space than previous years. The Tuner Galleria/World of Wheels combo proves year after year to be a fantastic balance between the tuners upstairs and the classic/hot rod/muscle/ bike show downstairs that brings in car enthusiasts from all over by the thousands.
This year Tuner Galleria welcomed Kei Miura, who graciously posed and took photos with anyone in the know enough to recognize him. For those of you who have been living under a rock, Miura-san is known for his Kanjo days in Japan, but is now most widely recognized for his creation of the Rocket Bunny and other widebody kits for various platforms. One of his creations, the Rocket Bunny V2 BRZ/GT86 kit, was on display on Richard Fisher's showstopping Pearl White BRZ. The joint effort among Fish, ABMotoring, and Touge Factory/TF-Works produced this glorious machine fitted with Rotiform mesh wheels riding on an Airlift bag system. He was in good company with AJ Gillett's aired-out red BRZ on SSR mesh sitting menacingly behind. Boring cars, they are not. Fish's BRZ claimed Best Rising Star Import and Best Vinyl Graphics. Judges for the event included special guests Jonathan Wong, Charles Trieu, and Ginash George of JDM Chicago.
In addition to rad cars, the stage at Tuner Galleria was graced with the beautiful women from American Model Management who treated the crowd to a lingerie show with attire compliments of Secret Fantasy Lingerie. The ladies always take time to pose for photos with fans and in front of the cars. After all, what is a traditional tuner car show without the car show chicks, right?
TG Chicago was a success yet again despite a storm that unfortunately snowed some competitors in for the night. The West Coast-based TG staff/crew got to experience just a taste of what Chicago has been experiencing all winter. Here is looking forward to Tuner Galleria 6 next year!
