Super Street Wekfest LA Picks - SoCal Showstoppers

Scene: Wekfest L.A.; Queen Mary Events Park - Long Beach, CA

Oct 11, 2014

Why do we keep going back to Wekfest L.A. year after year? It's because the 400+ cars that participate are actually curated by the Wekfest staff. As a result, you won't see a stock Civic rocking "I Heart JDM" stickers or an Evo with Lamborghini doors. What you'll get is the creme de la creme, the best builds Southern California has to offer with a handful of out-of-towners to throw in the mix.

For those of you who still do not know about the show series, Wekfest started in an underground parking lot in the Japantown district of San Francisco. Since then, the show's popularity grew and the once car meet became a full-fledged tour. This year, Wekfest already made stops in Honolulu and Japan, now Long Beach. If you ever plan on going to Wekfest, which you should, it's best to go early. Chances are you'll still have to wait in line, but we promise it's all worth the hype. Nonetheless, if you couldn't make it out to the Long Beach event, we picked a few cars that made our jaws drop and our knees well, Wek.

Jofel's Pick
Noel Barnum's Varis Scion FR-S

I know what you're thinking, "Jofel just picked it because he's hella cool with Noel and he also drives an FR-S." Yes, the latter might be true, but not only because of that. I've seen Noel's car go through different stages and it gets better and sexier every time. I still remember the day he brought this car to the More Japan's garage sale with just a Five Axis kit, air ride, and SSR wheels. He's done away with the Rocket Bunny kit and went with Varis for his aero. Always changing the game, Noel. - JT

Sam's Pick
Phaze2 Mikey's Acura Integra

So damn clean, I ran out of storage space on my phone snapping pics of this DC2. The Milano red paint is immaculate and under the hood is chrome heaven. Mikey and his crew did an awesome job putting together the car within a short period of time. Great job, fellas! - SD

RJ de Vera/Joey Lee's Pick
RC's Garage Red Acura Integra

Everything from the gold velocity stacked ITB setup to the Mugen wheels, I love how that car is a mix of only the best JDM parts and USDM tuning ethos. It represents a fusion of lifestyles that gives it a very unique personality, which really sets it apart. - RJ

Simply put, this is one of the premier Honda/Acura builds in the nation, maybe even the world-in 2014. It's so good that it was unanimously selected as the overall "Best of Show" winner at Wekfest. - JL

Jason Haradon's Honda Civic

Vision. Execution. Details. Those words are the foundation of this build and the reasons behind it becoming timeless instantly. Does it look stock? Good. Now look again and study. - BM

Sam's 2nd Pick
Sam Ip's Acura NSX

Debuted at Wekfest, Sam's car definitely was one of the most talked about cars from the show. It's not every day that you see a dope supercharged NSX on air. Plus, he's got a good name. - SD
