Upon your arrival in Helen, Georgia, for Southern Wörthersee, you get a special feeling when you see thousands of cars packed into this quaint Bavarian-themed town. The scenery is simply amazing—all the buildings look like they’re straight out of Austria, the town is alongside the Chattahoochee River and you’re minutes away from scenic mountain views. (Note: Southern Wörthersee is modeled from the Worthersee Tour in Austria, which draws millions of enthusiasts from all over Europe – SD).
SoWo is by far one of my favorite shows of the year because there’s nothing like it in the U.S. When this show originally started, it was intended for VWs and Audis, but it’s grown to attract all makes and models. I embrace the change because at the end of the day, we’re all car enthusiasts who come to have a good time with friends. During the day, people like to kick back at the show grounds. But if the show isn’t your steez, spend it relaxing by going inner tubing down the river. When it starts getting dark outside, all hell breaks loose at the Helendorf Inn. Here you’ll find thousands of people causing a ruckus with burnouts and partying that goes all night. The cops don’t seem to mind too much and it’s almost like a scene out of a movie; I can’t believe how crazy it gets! People come to Southern Wörthersee every year for the experience and to create unforgettable memories with friends. In the end, isn’t that what’s most important?
