We hear the infamous Cars and Coffee (C&C) meet that used to be held in Irvine, Calif., is, sadly, no more. It seems neighbors adjacent to the parking lot where the weekend get together used to happen got fed up with all the revving and burnouts, so property management pulled the plug. Can't say we didn't see that coming, but it has left something of a hole in local enthusiasts' weekend schedule.
The Toyo Tires x Super Street Car Meet and Calendar Launch held January 17 at Boden Autohaus in Costa Mesa, literally right on the northwest edge of the John Wayne Airport property, momentarily filled the vacuum left by C&C. Throughout the Saturday, as scores of modified vehicles of every ilk rolled in and out of the event, we had commercial airliners providing a spectacular view of their underbellies as they made their approach to the airfield.
Since this was a celebration of the Toyo Tires Super Street 2015 calendar, we had all the lovely Toyo Girls from said calendar present to sign autographs and take photos with their adoring public - Leanna Decker, Constance Nunes, Nikki Howard and Sydney Maler. Several Toyo-backed cars were also on hand for display, supplemented by hundreds of other locally based modified whips that filtered into the surrounding parking lots and spilled over onto the street (at one point prompting the Costa Mesa po-po to pop by and regulate).
It was a nice - if temporary - diversion from not having C&C around anymore. Flip through the gallery to see all the action from that day, and head on over to your local newsstand to get a March copy of Super Street for your own 2015 Toyo Tires SS calendar.
