There's no welcome like the welcome we receive in Hawaii — "Aloha!" From the moment we land to the moment we leave, we're greeted by gorgeous 80-degree weather, the friendliest people, plenty of modified cars on the road, and epic car shows. There's only a few events a year for the locals, but these affairs do the island a great service keeping the enthusiasm for cars alive, even with the island's racetracks closing down years ago. One show the community has really supported is the SoCal-based series SpoCom.
This year marked the ninth for SpoCom and sixth official time they've put on an event in Honolulu. We haven't attended every one in person, but we can attest this year's show was the largest to date! It was such a hit it even required an additional hall at the Neil S. Blaisdell Center to accommodate the 220-plus show cars — something that hasn't been done in ages!
Aside from the beautiful rides like Best of Show winner Lance Harano's Sprinter Trueno (we featured it in '11), as well as newcomer Alex Ching's Nissan 240SX with Odyvia front-end (which won our Editor's Choice award this year — congrats!) there were also tons of lifestyle features you couldn't miss. Clothing was big this year with our friends at JSpirit and Racesauce reppin' hard as always, but Farmer's Market stole the show with, at times, a line wrapping around the entire building! We also can't forget our lovely ladies and former Super Street models in attendance like Vicki Li, Jeri Lee, Krstina Hong, Nicole Leigh, and others.
Enjoy the gallery, and if you ever make it out to Hawaii next year, don't forget to plan it around SpoCom! In case you missed SpoCom Anaheim '15 earlier this year, go here for our full gallery.
