With car show season underway and a rather reasonable start time of 1pm, we made our way through the always crowded LA streets to check out the AutoCon event at LA Convention Center.
As with most car shows and meets in So Cal, you're guaranteed to find at least a handful of Honda builds on hand - some street, some show and, in the case of AutoCon, even a few track cars. With plenty of high-end vehicles in attendance, (GTRs, Porsches, exotics), we expected to find just a few NSX and S2000s scattered throughout the venue, but actually, we ran across a group of Civics, CRXs and even a boosted Prelude on hand as well.
As with most car-related events currently, widebody treatments and universal fender flares tacked on to just about everything from Lambos to Nissan Jukes were plentiful. In between all of the man-made fiberglass girth sat a few interesting builds that we took a closer look at.
This 4th gen Civic featured a well-done K-swap using Hasport mounts and Hybrid Racing goods.
We don't see many Preludes at car shows, especially ones built to race and using turbo motivation to scoot around the track
Classic Civic hatch on period-correct wheels and B-series motivation
Supercharged S2000 with shaved and tucked engine bay and plenty of custom fabrication throughout
Custom painted Spoon calipers behind black Volk CE28s are a nice touch on this grey S2K.
Civic coupe with boosted single-cam, hood exit exhaust and coil-on-plug conversion.
This Voltex-equipped AP2 sat nicely on white Volk Racing rollers.
