When visiting Hawaii, you can spend all the time you want sippin' Mai Tais on Waikiki Beach. But if you call yourself a car enthusiast and you find yourself in Honolulu in late August, then you need to get your ass down to Neil S. Blaisdell Center for the 808 State's premier car show and get-together—SpoCom Hawaii. We've been attending events in Hawaii regularly over the last six years, and what we admire most is how the entire island comes out to support all of the events and each other.
At SpoCom, you'll find everything from the underground drifters to show queens, dope old-school builds and even the local apparel/lifestyle brands out in full force with new clothing drops. You'll also notice while a lot of the cars tend to be the same from previous years, builders do their best to freshen their cars up with new parts year after year, which isn't the easiest thing to do in Hawaii as parts are much more expensive to get and the number of shops aren't as plentiful as it isStateside (most of the guys and girls we know there work on their own cars).
We can't forget a proper road course or drag strip is still nonexistent on Oahu; however, strong and united, Hawaiian car enthusiasts don't let these setbacks deter their passion, which is why the 2016, 7th annual, Hawaii edition of SpoCom was bigger and better than ever before.
