I have for some time believed there will never be a better era of cars than the '80s and '90s. The '80s was a great decade for innovative cars such as the AE86, the CRX, FC RX-7 and of course, the R32 Skyline. These cars would eventually position carmakers to get into the JDM supercar era with the Supra, NSX, 300ZX and the FD RX-7. That alone made it a no-brainer to attend JCCS' second annual Street Neo Classics event held at Toyota's HQ in Torrance, Calif., to relive the past. After looking through the rows of cars, we narrowed our favorites to the five cars below.
Anthony Gutierrez's '90 Nissan 240SX
It doesn't get any cooler than a 240 with the quintessential SR20DET. And those Super Advan wheels still look sexy!
Ramon Dela Cruz's '74 Toyota Corolla
Legendary body and paint guru, PJ Bonifacio painted this TE27, but what makes it even more special is the 3SG BEAMs motor swap under the hood.
Eddie Guerrero's '93 Toyota Supra
Some Supra purists might be angry when they see that this Supra has a 1.5JZ motor instead of Toyota's flagship 2JZ, but we sort of like the out-of-the-box thinkers.
Allan Lugue's '86 Toyota Corolla GT-S
Is it just us or are panda 86s starting to be a little vanilla? That maybe why we love Allan's Run Free AE86 and Kouki Redlines.
Arnel Solas' '93 Nissan 300ZX
We know, we know —we don't feature enough Z32s. At first the Work Meister wheels caught our attention, then upon further inspection we saw how pristine Arnel's VG motor is. Bravo, Arnel!
