If the non-stop Instagram posts about last minute prepping for this show or that didn't clue you in, rest assured, the 2017 car show season is officially underway. And just like last year, the Autocon car show series made its way to the Los Angeles Convention Center for one of the biggest shows on their annual roster.
The popularity of the event, having grown exponentially over the years, meant a long wait in line for spectators. Not a bad thing when a brand's main goal is to bring in as many bodies as possible, but something fans noted, with some waiting as long as an hour and a half to get through the doors. That comes with the territory, especially when an event this popular brings in upwards of 300 display vehicles, dozens of various vendors, and over 10,000 attendees.
Being centrally located in Los Angeles, a number of Honda builds made their way to the show, and Jofel Tolosa stopped drooling over Toyota builds long enough to grab a few photos. For better or worse, depending on your outlook, here are the Honda/Acuras that stood out during Autocon L.A. '17.
Taking home the "Finest Honda" award was Hector Levario's aggressive AP2 fitted with Voltex aero and classic bronze TE37s.
White Civic EH builds will always be a staple in the Honda community. This version features a J's Racing front lip, Chargespeed fenders and meaty Federal 595 RS-R tires on 949 Racing wheels.
The anticipation for the new Civic Type R has reached monumental levels, and with the actual production model being revealed earlier this year, Honda put this white version on display. Showgoers had mixed reactions, with some praising the aggressive look and 300-plus hp turbo power plant, while others couldn't get beyond the massive 20-inch rollers.
Leon Casino, owner of way too many project cars, has been putting some time into his Comptech supercharged NSX as of late. The Sorcery front is raw carbon currently, but is set to be color-matched shortly. Leon's homebuilt carbon fiber/aluminum sideskirts and modified Downforce rear fenders make up the flanks and a rear that's been topped off with a custom APR wing, all of which earned him the "Finest Acura" nod.
This ITR wore a complete Spoon Sports livery and JDM front-end conversion, complemented by OEM JDM wheels. It's been making the rounds lately and even showed up at our SS Toyo Tires calendar launch event back in February.
You've no doubt seen Marshall Angel's turbocharged RSX before, perhaps in the pages of Super Street. Marshall made his way to L.A. and even pulled his bumper off to give you a better view of the Sheepeybuilt turbo kit and intercooler set up.
The top photo is from 2016 and the bottom, from this year's event. A vinyl wrap and a new shade of WedsSport TC105N wheels and this AP1 has a whole new look.
