Once spring hits, you know car show season is just around the corner. There are countless meets and so-called "season openers," but the real party was with our good friends at AutoCon who hosted a huge event at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Not surprisingly, being it's the first big show of the year, AutoCon has often served as the event of choice to debut a build. Southern California's thriving car scene came out swinging with all sorts of brand new builds for us to drool over, and we managed to pick five of our favorites. Did we miss one? Let us know in the comments below.
LEON'S ACURA NSX
Leon has been in the Honda game for a long time. His motto is "No cookie cutter builds." He's wanted an NSX all his life and claims it's his retirement car, but we all know that doesn't work out too well. The front bumper and fenders are from Sorcery, but the rest of the aero, such as the side skirts and rear diffuser, are custom made by Leon himself, right out of his garage. It gets even better when you look at his motor. The C30 utilizes a Comptech supercharger and a whole lot of Taitec goodies.
LTMW NISSAN SKYLINE R32
LTMW has been building showstoppers for years and this year's AutoCon was no different. Leave it up to these guys to finish off the country's first Pandem Skyline R32. According to Long, a lot of the parts were shipped from Japan, overnight! The midnight purple paint and BBS LMs look absolutely stunning together.
BALFRE'S SUBARU BRZ
This is easily one of the cleanest Pandem BRZ's in Southern California. Painted in McLaren P1 Volcano Red, it's not just a show queen, either. The FA20 is boosted with a GReddy turbo and tuned by RD Engineering. In true Super Street style, it's even rocking BBS LM wheels and a Stop Tech big brake kit.
JOEL TAN'S NISSAN SKYLINE HAKOSUKA
We can't forget about the Japanese classics. Last year Joel caught our attention with his Trueno and now he's back in full force with this Hakosuka. Joel drew inspiration from Works Skylines of Japan. Victory 50 fender flares and coilovers give this Skyline an extremely aggressive look. Truth be told, we really want to hear this thing scream.
JOHNNY'S MAZDA RX-7
Not only was this one of our favorite builds, but we awarded Johnny with Best of Show honors. Johnny's RX-7 is the only car in the country with a complete TCP Magic aero kit. We also dig how he kept it gangster with a rotary instead of the often-used LS swap. Be sure to keep your eyes out for his feature in the near future.
