We all see summer as the peak of "car show season" in Southern California, a place notorious for having back-to-back shows almost every weekend, in addition to being sprinkled with local boba car meets throughout the week. Even with the hectic schedule in front of us, we always make it a point to get to as many gatherings as possible, and on August 6th, we made our way over to Clean Culture x Car Physics Summer Showcase event at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif.
Clean Culture events are a little different, being they're technically a car show but carry a car meet vibe. Cars still have to register, but almost everybody is accepted, making it an all-inclusive affair. That's great, but it can also attract some classic knucklehead behavior, like those two-step demonstrations and burnouts that you've come to almost expect.
Hundreds of cars were registered and even a few heavy hitters showed up such as Leon Casino with his widebody NSX and Jonny Grunwald's TCP Magic RX-7. Clean Culture founder George Melita says, "We describe our events with a phrase; 'quality of a show, vibe of a meet.' This event saw close to 1,200 show cars passing through the gates, between two lots." To our surprise, even a few cars from Arizona, Nevada, and San Francisco pulled up to the event.
Summer Showcase is definitely a chill event compared to the hardcore, judged car shows we're used to. Next time we'll be prepared with a grill, beers, and for good measure, a vehicle equipped with a two-step.
