If last year was "a long time coming," this year was "back stronger than ever." 2018 marks the 10th anniversary of the Bay Area-born Wekfest tour, and they are hitting every major city big this year to celebrate while solidifying themselves as one of the best car show series in the world.
2017 was Wekfest's first time hosting a show in the Pacific Northwest, and being that it was such a huge success a 2018 return was a no-brainer. We had the bright idea of driving our very own "Ratchet Bunny" Scion FR-S project car 1,200 miles from LA to make it for Wekfest's first show in Seattle at Century Link Field. It was an extremely fun time but unfortunately this year we couldn't make it to the PNW in person. Instead, our contributor Sheldon Yagyagan was able to snap these great photos and highlight some of the best rides in attendance for you to enjoy.
What's always refreshing about Wekfest is that it's a show founded on quality over quantity. You won't walk the venue wondering, "Why is this car in the show?" Throw out all the nonsense and fluff because each car is prescreened before being accepted into any Wekfest show, which means you're only seeing the best of the best when you're there.
The Northwest scene killed it yet again with a lot of sweet builds, especially Hondas. Wayne Denman's CRX (@augustcascade) was the talk of the show. His previous two CRX builds carry quite a bit of history in that they were blasted all over the internet years ago, well before the social media blitz was even an idea. His comeback build proved triumphant at Wekfest Seattle as he took home Best Honda honors. There were also several familiar Super Street alumni features cars on hand as well which included:
The timing of this year's Wekfest couldn't have been any better, either. With the fifth round of Formula DRIFT in town Friday and Saturday, it made for a packed weekend with plenty of folks stopping by both events.
Next up to bat on the Wekfest tour is our own backyard: the Los Angeles Convention Center on August 5th, while the New Jersey and Houston shows are on deck for the remainder of 2018. You won't want to miss these last three shows!
