The Dubfest tour ended last September at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, CA. With two earlier shows taking place in Las Vegas and Northern California, most Cali enthusiasts waited patiently for the last hoorah in Irwindale, which featured more show cars, vendors, giveaways and raffle prizes.
Dubfest is one of the longest running events in California and drew big name supporters such as Falken Tire, which gave away a free set of tires. Euro Sport Accessories, ABD Racing and BSH also showed support, as well donating products to the raffle and showcasing their latest developments. Chip tuner Revo also supported the event offering 20% off its products.
With no rain in the forecast, the warm 85° temperature made the atmosphere enjoyable.
For those inhibited by the heat, Rockstar Energy Drinks was on-hand to satisfy the thirsts of showgoers.
But everyone was there for the cars and the one example that made the biggest impression was Jess Kenoyer's Audi S4 (et 12/09). Making the drive from Bellingham, WA, his bagged sedan stole the hearts of attendees with its amazing stance, 17" Fikse wheels and big-turbo motor. Justifiably, Jess won Best of Show on the day but was beaten for Dubfest's Best of the Best award by a Mk4 Jetta with a huge sound system and flame paintjob.
The biggest car club to make its presence felt was Europrojektz, which brought out several cars from BMWs to Audis and even a widebody Lotus.
While the car show was entertaining, an autocross took place in the 1/3-mile oval course, providing action all day.
Although attendance was down on the previous year, the quality of cars was high. So we look forward to next year for one of the West Coast's premier Euro shows.
