The Leavenworth Drive continues to make history in the Euro scene. Last year, we thought 680 would be impossible to beat, but the '10 event attracted 750+ Euros from around the Pacific Northwest.
The annual gathering was founded in '01 by renowned tuner Evolution Sports. And ever since the shop closed its doors in '06, Northwest European has taken over the reins to continue the tradition. Now it's one of the largest GTGs on the West Coast.
The Leavenworth Drive is also one of the scene's biggest charitable events. Last year, every driver made a contribution to raise more than $6000 for the local children's hospital. This year, they raised over $8000!
If you've never attended the drive, you might want to plan for next year. The day starts with an informal meeting at a college parking lot in Bellevue, WA. From there, the drivers head out on a 110-mile journey to Leavenworth, WA with a short pitstop at Steven's Pass. Located in the heart of the Cascade Mountains, drivers regroup at the peak then finish the last leg of the caravan to Leavenworth.
Incidentally, Leavenworth isn't your typical American town. It's actually modeled on an old German village, so all the shops, restaurants, hotels and even fast food joints share Bavarian décor and fashion. As for the brats and beer... it's delicious, making it a perfect destination for Euro enthusiasts.
This year the weather wasn't as good as previously but rest assured, the Leavenworth Drive will return with the same great atmosphere and group of Northwest Euro fans. For information and dates for '11, visit leavenworthdrive.com
