As you already know, Wuste is a weekend filled with Euro flavor that meets in the desert for a caravan, car show and party. This year packed a little extra treat…
It was the first time the West Coast had seen the new Golf R, Jetta GLI, Beetle and Passat. This was thanks to Volkswagen of America, which is becoming more involved in the tuner scene, and have more schedule appearances later in the year.
After a late-night pool party, Wuste2011 started early Saturday morning with a cruise to Mt Charleston. Passing the Sheriff’s house en route kept the caravan of more than 70 Euros mellow enough to enjoy the snow-capped mountains and cool breezes.
Back at the five-story parking structure of the host Boulder Station Hotel & Casino, a DJ provided the soundtrack to the BBQ and community carwash before the main event.
Now in its fifth year and growing strong, Wuste attendees had filled the Boulder Station Hotel as well as the security-patrolled parking structure with almost 1000 cars registered for the show ’n shine event.
In fact, Euro fanatics traveled from AZ, CA, CO, NV, OH, TX, UT, WA, Mexico, Canada as well as Scotland and even South Korea!
With savvy showgoers tracking the event’s activities on their phones via the Wuste website, attendees could also vote for their favorite cars in the people’s choice awards.
One of the highlights was the “Wuste Wagon” belonging to show organizer Brandon Chasin. It boasted an impressive six-day build from bare shell to show car. With the help of Unitronic, 034 Motorsport and Air Lift, this newly-painted ’03 Jetta wagon became the center of attention.
If the daily activities weren’t enough, more action was available thanks to a complementary shuttle to the Strip. This made it possible to park your car Friday and have a great weekend without risking your license.
So mark your calender next year for June 1-3 for Wuste2012. And check out the Wuste website for the possibility of a longer celebration next year.
