First Annual DubRun to Hawk’s Nest, NY.

Feb 23, 2012

Picture the perfect Fall weekend to carve through the thrilling roads of the Northeast in your modified car. Lucky for the rookie organizers, they chose the ideal weekend to host Tri-Dubbin’s first Annual DubRun to Hawk’s Nest, NY 2011.

The event was created for Tri-State Euro enthusiasts as a last chance to get their cars out for a meet and cruise before winter freezes everybody inside. And while it began as a VW-only gathering, the organizers opened it to all European makes to help grow their Tri-Dubbin’ weekly meet for Northern NJ Tri-State owners.

The cruise route included Hawk’s Nest along the famous Route 97N in Port Jervis, NY, which is commonly referred to as the Dragon’s Tail of the Northeast.

Several companies sponsored DubRun, providing items for the goodie bags handed to each participant, as well as bringing their shop cars. There were too many to mention but they included Adam’s Rotors, Adaptec Speedware, EuroTech, Forge Motorsport, Quick Time Performance, Redline and South Bend Clutch, with most providing raffle prizes as well.

RKR Productions was onsite to help create the official DubRun DVD, which will be on sale through by the time you read this.

The event started at the Meadtown Shopping Center in Kinnelon, NJ where meals were provided by Kinnelon Bagels. Once all the freebies and info packets were handed out, the local police helped the cruise proceed on Route 23N to High Point State Park before finally reaching Hawk’s Nest.

With 125 cars in attendance, the organizers felt it was a huge success and are already planning for DubRun 2011, which will use a different route to keep it fresh. In addition, Tri-Dubbin’ has a number of cruises and GTGs planned for the new year once the thaw sets in.

Probably the biggest advantage of living on the West Coast as a tuning enthusiast is the near complete lack of off-season.
