2005 Hot Import Nights: Los Angeles

Los Angeles Convention Center Los Angeles, CA March 5, 2005

With the introduction of its 2005 goodies, HIN LA brought in tens of thousands of people from throughout California, not only as spectators but also as competitors.

With about twice the cars on display as other shows, it was just a blast to walk around and take in California’s car culture at its best. The VIP section contained endless rows of high quality BMWs, Audis, Porsches, and more modified exotics.

Several teams were out representing at the season opener, including Europrojektz, TW Competition, Team Hybrid, Team FluX and many more. The rows of cars ranged from 350Zs, G35s, RX7s, plenty of JDM Hondas (including the last generation Preludes), and many old skool Hondas, which are always a force to be reckoned with. The S2000s were extremely popular along with various 240s of S13 and S14 chassis designations.

Nonetheless, the Modified M Lounge pulled the greatest crowd of the night, with the personable models greeting all the spectators with a smile.

There was something for everyone. XM Radio continued to build its reputation, along with other big names such as Hot Wheels, Meguiar's, Pepsi and McDonald’s. Drifting also made a huge splash with several of last weekend's D1 Grand Prix cars on display in the main hallway, showing just how marketable drifting is going to be in 2005.

If there is only one car show on your yearly schedule, make it this one.
