2005 SEMA International Auto Salon - Atlantic City

Atlantic City, NJ May 20-22, 2005

The West Coast is hailed as the sport compact Mecca of the US and boasts some of the dopest rides out on the scene today. But just because the East Coast isn’t in the limelight all the time doesn’t mean they don’t have as good or better examples of automobile bliss.

And a lot of these vehicles converged at the SEMA International Auto Salon to prove to the rest of the US that the East can build them just as good as the West. With an exorbitant amount of Mitsubishi EVOs and Subaru WRXs and STis in attendance, it reinforced the fact that the Honda market is shrinking and the turbocharged 4-cylinder sports sedan craze is in full effect. But there was another 4-door sports car also stirring up some hype, the Toyota IS300. With over a handful scattered throughout the show, Turbonetics was showing one off with one of their monster snails hanging off the exhaust manifolds while at the opposite side of the show a jet black IS300 boasted a custom turbo kit which on race gas makes in the vicinity of 900whp.

On the business side of things, many big name vendors including HKS, Falken Tire, BFGoodrich, and many more had booths displaying some of their latest offerings. A lot of local East Coast companies were out as well offering up their goods and services and attendees took full advantage on both Saturday and Sunday.

Now that you’ve had a mere taste of what SEMA IAS brought to the table, keep your eyes peeled for the entire show coverage in the September issue of Modified.
