One-make event takes it back to the place where it all started

Jun 29, 2015

Summer is here in full force, and if you’re a spoiled Californian (like us) that means beach weather, barbecues, and bug eyes. And other WRX. And Foresters, Outbacks, Legacy, BRZ – wait, we’re not just talking about summer anymore. We’re talking about one of the best parts of the hot and humid season, the Subaru Summer Solstice (S3)!

Back for a seventh year in 2015, S3 returned to Hueneme (pronounced “wahy-nee-mee”) Beach Park where the free event got its start after stints at the LA harbor and Long Beach in previous years. The mix was the same as in former iterations: car show, raffle, contests, vendors and food trucks. It seemed clear to us, though, there was probably a legit reason why the event moved in the first place; cars were packed into two relatively small parking lots, and conditions were pretty cramped to say the least.

That didn’t stop us from having a good time, although we did have to squeeze past more than a few Subies. Obviously there were WRX and WRX STI galore, with other models sprinkled in for good measure, everything from race car and offroad builds to some seriously over-the-top stanced widebody creations. Get into the gallery to see what Subaru Summer Solstice 2015 had to offer.

The idea of throwing an event dedicated to the wildly popular Rays wheels has popped up more than once around our office. It was only a matter of time before those ideas grew into a full-blown event that took over our office's parking lot
