It seems there are now three certainties in life: death, taxes, and that Toyo Tires will never put on a bad car event. For years now, it has dominated the SEMA Show news cycle with its Treadpass, an exhibition we once referred to as that "strip of enthusiast nirvana in between the Las Vegas Convention Center's Central and South Halls." Behind the creative vision of Stan Chen, Toyo's Senior Manager, Events and Sponsorships, the tire-maker continues to produce quality gigs beyond the trade show-like the Toyo calendar meet we co-host with them to kick off each year, which just keeps growing.

2020 Toyo Tires x SS Calendar Launch Meet 240Z NSX Photo 56/56   |   Save for a lot of rev limiter play, plenty of two-steppin', and a handful of burnies, there wasn't a whole lot of jackassery for this year's meet-n-mingle. The layout of the event next to the Anaheim Ducks's home ice again had a coned-off VIP area basically sandwiched in between Katella Avenue and the Honda Center, but in addition cars were spread along south edge of arena

We've been doing our little annual calendar car get together with Toyo since 2015, and after starting off with a "quiet" (not really) gathering that took up pretty much every last bit of free real estate around Boden Autohaus in Costa Mesa, California, we had to move in 2018. We transplanted the event 12 miles north to the massive parking lot of the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, where they used to hold music festivals and such. This year we heard we had something like 2,000 to 3,000 cars at the casual affair, and we were honestly a little gobsmacked.

"Those are SuperiLL numbers," mentioned Editor Sam Du when he broke the news to us, referencing the insanely successful meet we had in late 2017 in Downtown Los Angeles. He's right, except back then it was at night, and we didn't have as big a space, or the help of the local PD to prevent chaos from erupting (as it did a teensy-weensy bit for SuperiLL). Lessons learned: See how right things can go when you have all your car-show ducks in a row in the gallery below.

This 1998 right-hand-drive features a rare Varis ASSO version kit and Rays Volk CE28 Club Racer II Black Edition 18x10.5 wheels wrapped in 295/30ZR18 Toyo Proxes R888R DOT legal competition rubber at each corner

It sports a genuine Kremer 935 widebody kit and matchy-matchy eight-piece wheels from Brixton Forged behind turbofan covers.

Specs for the custom 964 include a bumper-to-bumper chromoly race cage and 12 inches of wheel travel thanks to the use of billet aircraft aluminum spindles, a-arms, and a box plate chromoly trailing arm suspension. The Porsche sits on 15 x 7-inch fifteen52 Integrale Gravel FIA approved wheels wrapped with 30-inch tall Toyo Open Country A/T II (all-terrain) tires, and a purpose-built 3.8-liter air cooled engine built by Jeff Gamroth of Rothsport Racing.

2020 Toyo Tires x SS Calendar Launch Meet k swap Civic Photo 56/56   |   We first saw this K-swapped red EK at Wekfest LA last year and fell head over heels-the build is so clean! We get fixated on those carbon ITB stacks and shaved bay, but the spare interior flosses a really sweet set of iLLest x Bride Low Max buckets.
