You have to respect the simple brilliance of the Downstar Inc., business model. While they may have a reputation among some for peddling bolts and other hardware that looks like spikes – something you’d think is more suited for an outlaw biker and his hog, or maybe a big rig – the plain truth is the company excels at selling the highest-quality stainless steel, mostly socket head fasteners to an audience that can be obsessive about details like nuts and bolts.
It was many of that same following that turned out for Downstar’s recent Open House event, held at the outfit’s headquarters in Ventura, Calif. In spite of stifling, out-of-the-ordinary heat that made hanging out in a parking lot much less attractive, there were still several dozen cars that turned up – primarily Hondas, Downstar’s core market – and plenty of spectators as well to scope the cars, poke their head in the Downstar offices, and fill up on tacos.
You can see what kind of rolling artistry was on display at the Downstar Open House in our photo gallery from the event. And for more visuals from the shindig, check out the Facebook Live video we grabbed while we were there.
