The very first Niagara CRX meet took place in Canada back in June of '98 with just a handful of participants. Today, this event attracts huge crowds with over 150 CRXs in attendance. The annual and sometimes bi-annual event brings people together from all over the world with one common interest; the beloved sporty CRX that's managed to write its own page in the import history books.
The event kicked off at the drag strip Friday night, about an hour away from the main camp site. The drag racing tradition started a few years back when some of the enthusiasts were anxious to race and show the others what their CRXs could manage on the 1320. The next day was the main event, with many waking up hung over from the late night partying the night before. The meet began at 10am, and lasted throughout the day. At the end of the day, awards were handed out to the cars and people who created the biggest impact on the community.
As the event came to a close, some headed to the local beaches for a CRX photo shoot and a little relaxation. As night rolled in, some made their way to dinner, while others enjoyed some of Niagara Falls' "adult" clubs.
Every year the event gets better and better. The focus is on meeting new people, and that sometimes turns into long-term friendships between CRX enthusiasts. The organizers have managed to increase attendance every year. If you're a CRX fanatic, you need to make it out to the next event. Check your local CRX forum for details.
