If there’s anything we’ve learned about attending the Tokyo Auto Salon, it’s that the 86 movement is without a doubt still very strong. Every corner of the show, every single hall you walked into contained some sort of company that’s already developed new parts for both the Zenki and Kouki versions. Seeing Japan’s way of putting a seemingly obsessive amount of love and attention to detail into this chassis, it’s only a matter of time until the style transcends across the globe.
With the Kouki model available to the public, you’ll find top-notch front lips from popular JDM brands such as JUN, C-West, and Varis. If you’re feeling bad and boujee and want to replace those OEM bumpers or go the widebody route, Pandem, Blitz, and Ings has the stuff you’ll need. Performance junkies might be interested in Monster Sport’s FA20 sports engine package that is said to include a 5,000km warranty. TRD continues to tease us with its newest development for the 14R-60 – new carbon parts like an extended lip that gives a nod to the Griffon Concept. Don't bother asking TRD if you can get it because chances are it’s only available for the 100 14R-60 owners.
Japan, as it turns out, remains the major source of inspiration not only for 86 owners but for car enthusiasts around the world, regardless of what brand or chassis they’re loyal to.
