When you're the purveyor of the most popular wheels in the import enthusiast industry, you can bet people are expecting something special from you at the annual SEMA show. And year after year, Mackin Industries has managed to bring the wheels and the cars that have everyone talking—and 2018 was no different.
Variety is key to being an all-inclusive outlet for visitors to make their way into the booth in order to ask questions, and if things go right, deals are established that in turn help to keep our market churning. With that said, in order to bring them in, Mackin brought a group of Japanese, European, and even a domestic truck to encourage passersby to get a closer look.
Prior to the show, Evasive Motorsports released a video giving everyone a glimpse of one of the wildest Stateside S2000 builds you're likely to ever encounter. From the stroker kit to the HKS supercharger, stripped and race-prepped cabin and, oh, don't forget about the massive, and we do mean MASSIVE aero changes courtesy of their partnership at Voltex. The wheel of choice for this latest version S2K is Advan's TC-4
The overtly aggressive splitters and lips pushed booth boundaries, as texting zombies that slosh their way through the convention center managed to narrowly miss (in most cases) stepping on the front splitter. We can't wait to see this car in action as Evasive has plans to hit the track in 2019.
Also from the Evasive camp was their track proven GT-R parked in the hall just a few feet away from the main Mackin booth, sporting Advan GT wheels.
With the off-road market gaining so much momentum over the past few years, it's not at all a surprise to see this Ford pickup representing Mackin as well.
It wouldn't be a proper SEMA without the introduction of a new wheel in the Mackin booth, and for 2018 it's the Advan Racing R6. A mold-form forged wheel that uses a nicely sized lip combined with thick spokes that feature additional rigid points close to the hub and a slick laser engraved logo.
For the European market, this M3 sat front and center perched on Volk TE037 in bronze and fitted with an MXP exhaust system.
The finish is almost satin-like, and Mackin tells us there is a slight adjustment happening with the coating of these, and a few other wheels, to maintain the strictest of quality.
The walls that you often dream about...
Rays 57CR is a simple, classic design and one that's really caught on since its release. Available in gloss black and Gun Blue II, these are offered in large number sizing and offsets and look right at home on this FK8.
Triggerman for hire, Al Norris (@alnorrisphoto on IG) brought his Skyline GT-R all the way from New Jersey.
One side features Advan RZ-F2 in bronze, while the other uses grey.
The Versus line of wheels were on display and the Salvatore Strategia model was used on this Infiniti S30t. We're told the center cap logo, recently updated, will make its way to more wheels in the line up.
Mackin also carries a complete Project MU brake line up that includes some collaboration kits with the likes of Alcon and ADVICS, like this 4-pot caliper.
And this massive 6-pot version
From the Project Kics line, this new compression bolt system fits inside of their open-ended lug nuts and uses a steel ball and spring system to prevent lugs from loosening. And to cover up wheel spacers and give you a cleaner look, the covers are a direct bolt-on and available in blue, red, and black.
