D1 Drift GP Irwindale 2006 - HONDA FREE ZONE

Woe the Honda lover looking for a hero at round 8 of the D1 Grand Prix drifting series, held December 16 and 17 at Irwindale Speedway. Nary an H badge in the entire lot of competitors throughout the 2-day season wrap-up, which made our weekend quite short. Outside of the increasingly tedious Option-inspired JDM celebration, and considering the looming foul weather, we had little to stick around for.

The grounds of the House of Drift did sport a smattering of dressy Hondas, including famous NSXs by High End Performance and ARK and a really clean K-swapped 6th-gen. Civic hatch in the BDL booth. Near as we could tell, though, the materialization of a real car show never occurred, perhaps because of the weather. The following day, Sunday, D1 had its World All Stars event, which pit drivers from across the D1 global empire against one another, but by then we had already lost interest. Until we see more of the H badge on the D1 circuit, we're guessing interest from our scene will only continue to wane.
