Ford-based FSWerks specializes in vehicles like the 2013 Ford Focus ST that it brought out to this year’s Tuner GP. The team had 4-5 project cars to choose from but went with the Focus ST because it had not been to the track. Ultimately, due to its basic bolt-ons they realized it was like bringing a knife to a gunfight. However, brothers Vik and Raffi still gave it everything they had with Vik taking care of the drag racing and Raffi driving on the road course.
The biggest restriction for the ST was the stock turbo and cat. On the dyno, it put down 288.75hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, which put the team low on the totem pole for this portion of the GP.
When asked what edge they had over the competition, they cited track experience and the fact that they’ve been participating in the Tuner GP for years. To find out if track experience was their saving grace check out the full story in the February 2014 issue.
