Scion Tuner Challenge Details:
Since it's debut the Scion FR-S has stirred the souls and underpants of automotive enthusiasts worldwide. To mark its 10th year at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show held on November 4th-7th 2014 in Las Vegas, NV, Scion is throwing a twist into its annual Scion Tuner Challenge.
Scion announced today that the featured builders would include three media partners: Super Street, Speedhunters, and GT Channel - essentially a battle between print, online, and video outlets. All three media companies will draw inspiration from the FR-S Release Series 1.0 and must include at least one element from it.
Each team has already received its stock Scion FR-S with six-speed manual transmission. Given $15,000, each team will put its own spin on the FR-S leading up to the big debut at SEMA. The first place winner will take home $10,000. While it must be kept secret until unveil, Super Street's build plan is going to be special.
"The FR-S Release Series 1.0 presents a modern take on the vehicle's racing heritage and will provide our three media teams a creative muse for their own inspired customizations," said Landy Joe, Scion auto shows and special events manager. "In our 10 years bringing this competition to the SEMA Show, we've always been impressed by the ingenuity of car builders there and our Scion fans. By bringing in these three respected partners to help us celebrate this milestone, we hope to get even more people excited about the possibilities."
