It is said that variety is the spice of life, and possibly nowhere is that better demonstrated than a Redline Time Attack event. Of course the big-budget, high-performance record breakers of time attack are usually what garner the biggest media buzz, but what you'll find more of are regular enthusiasts like you and us wheeling a diverse selection of Japanese, European and American daily drivers, project cars, obscure race machines, and semi-track-dedicated "weekend" cars in a variety of classes to suit just about anything.
This first event of the 2015 Redline Time Attack season (held in conjunction with Extreme Speed Track Events) welcomed to Buttonwillow Raceway Park a grip of Miata competing in a Roadster Challenge, a bunch of Hyundai in a Veloster Challenge, and a wide range of class competitors ranging from Mazda RX-7s, Subaru WRX/STIs, Mitsu EVOs, Nissan Zs, FR-S/BRZs, Honda Civics and S2000s to BMWs, Camaros, Challengers, and more-even a Legends car, Indy car, rally-prepped Del Sol and bone-stock minivan rounded out the field, competing for fastest-lap honors in their respective classes.
There are eight Redline Time Attack events scheduled for 2015, all at popular racetracks around the SoCal region. If you're in the area and know/love track racing, you should experience it for yourself - no matter what you're driving.
