Street Driven Tour Atlanta 2015

Tour teams with SouthrnFresh for huge smoke-filled event at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Street Driven Tour slid into Atlanta Motor Speedway for its third event of 2015 (after stops at Virginia International Raceway in May and Gateway International Raceway in Missouri in July), and with the help of SouthrnFresh hosting its SouthrnFresh 5 meet in the paddock, drew the largest crowd of the year so far.

Attendees who purchased ride-alongs got to hit the Atlanta Motor Speedway infield drift course with Formula D drivers Chris Forsberg (VK65DE V8-swapped Infiniti M45 sedan), Ryan Tuerck (2JZ-GTE-swapped Scion FR-S), and Patrick Goodin (twin-turbo LSX V8-swapped Nissan S13 240SX), while they attacked the course with three-car tandem runs in both forward and reverse configurations.

Not far behind were FD's Alex Youe (LSX V8-swapped "KG Made" Nissan S14 240SX) and Tommy Van Cleef (white JZA70 Toyota Supra), along with local drivers who put on killer smoke shows from behind the wheels of a red JZA70 Supra, white Pontiac GTO (Holden Monaro, really), several S13 and S14 240SXs, and even a Porsche 944 and K20C-powered Datsun.

SouthrnFresh's 450-plus show car attendees locked down the paddock area, surrounding the pit garages where drift bashers mingled with some 50 vendors moving everything from T-shirts and stickers, to wheels and assorted performance parts, to fully built competition cars.

Capping off the day was yet another Hoonigan Tire Massacre, this one held on the drift course where entrants could take as much room as needed to lay down the gnarliest, smokiest, smoldering burnouts they could conceive. Forsberg and Tuerck strapped tow hook to tow hook for a smoky bout of burnout tug-of-war, while Goodin did his best Mad Mike impression with a killer Australian-style donut-laden burnout. A guy in a rented BMW rolled out a surprisingly good smoker, and even that Miata hot rod thing joined in on the action. But in the end, top hooners went to drifter Joey Whitaker for the man-sized smoke sent to the heavens by his black/yellow V8 S13.

Street Driven Tour tackles Las Vegas on September 26th with one final bout of drift bashing for 2015, in conjunction with StanceWars and drivers Chris Forsberg, Matt Powers, and others to be named. For tickets/ride-alongs/track access, hit up
