Offset Kings + Gridlife Chicago

One of the best car shows and grassroots drifting events combined

There's a Japanese proverb that says, "Three heads are better than one." A few months ago three organizations converged to bring one of the more exciting events in recent memory to the Chicago-land area: Offset Kings Showcase + TrackBattle HPDE & Time Attack. The collaboration between Fatlace, Gridlife, and JDM Chicago resulted in an exciting track day and car show at the Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Ill.

In addition to the car displays and time trials, spectators were treated to live drifting demos at a venue that typically frowns on the bastard child of motorsports. Unlike some other parts of the country, Chicago showed the two car cultures of "show" and "go" could co-exist and complement each other nicely. Nothing but positive vibes all day, and most left excited for the next Offset Kings and Gridlife collaboration event. Get into the gallery to see some of the sights from Offset Kings + Gridlife Chicago.

If there was one phrase to sum up a first-timer's experience at Tuner Evolution Chicago, it would be "culture shock."

NoWo this year was poppin'. For it being billed as primarily a VAG affair, there was a thoroughly diverse mix on hand, from more run-of-the-mill builds to one-offs, and other limited-edition fare.
