The scene is set — it's the seventh day of the seventh month of 2017 at Tsukuba Circuit in Ibaraki prefecture, Japan, the ideal date and place to celebrate the seventh annual Mazda Fest. A little over 60 cars made their way to the circuit in order to participate in the festival, where they were split into various run groups classified by tuning shop class, street cars class, and of course a drifting class.
Although it's called Mazda Fest, the field was basically dominated by RX-7s and, as you would expect, RE Amemiya had a huge presence, bringing all sorts of cars we know and love. That included some of their Tokyo Auto Salon hits such as their green FC3S as well as the Chantez, aka Super Chanter.
While it's cool to see big shops and famous drivers, it was equally cool seeing enthusiasts like Kohei Miyata rip through Tsukuba in his FC3S, and even the cars just parking lot pimping. Mazda Fest is an event that should be on the bucket list of every Mazda aficionado. Hell, if you're a JDM fanatic in general, it's worth a visit. Until then, have a look at the gallery and prepare your brain to be flooded with endorphins.
