The organizers of Super D held their 2018 Matsuri at Grange Motor Circuit in Apple Valley, Calif., on April 14-15. Not to be confused with Motegi Super Drift held on The Streets of Long Beach during the Grand Prix weekend, Super D Matsuri is a two-day festival showcasing drivers from all over the globe. Special guests in attendance included Team Pink Style with Naoki Nakamura, Mitsuyoshi Nishio, and Miki Tagaki, as well as current and former Formula DRIFT drivers Chelsea DeNofa, Brandon Wicknick, and Geoff Stoneback.
The gates to the big day opened at 10 a.m. on Saturday and the drifting went on throughout the day and well into early Sunday, with action not stopping until about 3 a.m. After a few hours of rest, the drivers were right back at it and remained on track until 5 p.m. Sunday.
The Matsuri featured over 100 drivers and loads of track time with the occasional break. A three-car "Triple Drift Showdown" was the highlight of the night, where teams of three would get one lap of the track to throw down their best run.
We want to thank Super D for having us out to the event and look forward to future festivals. For your viewing pleasure, we've got over 100 images of the clean cars in attendance that aren't afraid to get down and dirty!
