2nd Annual Mfactory West Coast Nationals - Event

We're taking this sport back, and into our own hands.

"We're taking this sport back, and into our own hands. Corporate big wigs and the powers that be have essentially wasted ten or so great years in our sport. The time has come; we're reclaiming it and taking it to the next level." A statement made earlier this year by Chad Barber of CTRParts.com, one of the driving forces behind the West Coast Nationals' sophomore event, and a certified race-junkie. Experiencing what some would call a rebirth, drag racing on the West Coast is gaining momentum at breakneck speeds. The event saw a number of broken axles, busted tranny's, and some serious heartbreak as a few cars were forced to limp back to the pits, ending their day early. However, overall the event was a smash hit with a friendly yet professional feel that left droves of internet hounds kicking themselves for not making the trip to Sactown.

Although the event took place in Northern California, there was an obvious absence of local racecars, which was surprising.

However, those who did make the event made it one to remember; especially Kevin Kempf and the Speed Factory crew, who managed to post a blistering 8.92 @ 179.2mph, and later backed it up with a 8.97 @ 179.7! Chad adds, "this is just the beginning; we've got a lot more in store. The only thing I'm wondering is what happened to all of the East Coast guys? Maybe we'll see them at the next event? I hope so . . ."

Riding the wave of success from this event, the plan for next year will focus on a five-event schedule that may include Sactown, Bakersfield, and Fontana. You can log on to www.westcoastnational.org to keep tabs on upcoming events and information. Even if you don't have a drag car of your own, get out there and support the cause-you're guaranteed to have a great time with all of the head-to-head action.
