In 2011, the car shows seemed to have died down significantly, and in some parts of the country, the drag race participation, though picking up steam again, is nowhere near the level it was during the 1990s’ “golden era.” On the flip side, the development of local meets and homegrown drag events is booming. Want proof? Look no further than New Jersey’s Honda Day 2011. Taking place at the Atco Raceway facility on April 17th, the event was host to a complete (and very competitive) drag event and featured a jam-packed car show with thousands upon thousands of visitors throughout the day. The crowd swelled so much, in fact, that surrounding roads were closed by authorities and plenty of rerouting occurred to keep the streets as clear as possible as long lines of Honda enthusiasts did their best to get inside the event to catch a glimpse at some of the region’s cleanest street and show cars, as well as the fierce battle that took place on the drag strip.
If you’re anywhere near an official Honda Day event and you’re not attending, you’re making a huge mistake. The event caters to almost every type of Honda enthusiast, and you’re sure to have a great time. Log on to www.hondaday.com to keep tabs on upcoming events and find out how you can get involved.
