Promoters of the import world's longest-running full-season drag/show series, Import Face-off, recently made their way through the American Southwest, and yours truly was there to catch action in AZ. If anyone reading this is still unconvinced of import drag racing's current resurgence, further proof could be found in the Tucson event. Sponsored by NOS Energy Drink, attendance was higher this year than in recent memory, and drag racing boiled down to neck-and-neck bouts in nearly every class, beginning with Pro FWD's final-round competition that saw Phoenix-based Joe Sawyer and his Locash Racing-backed DC2 edge out the '92 Civic of Riverside, CA's "Gus D." with a 9.91@158.41 to his opponent's 10.010@158.45. All Motor Pro was won by L.A. street assassin Jerry Guzman and his Jerrybuilt K-series EG with an 11.168@124.46 over Tucson's own Justin Yarbrough, running an 11.91@111.1. Check importtuner.com for full coverage, as well as of the series' Bell Rose, LA (Baton Rouge/New Orleans) and past events.
