Formula D Round 7: The Finals

Irwindale Speedway Irwindale, CA October 13, 2007

It all came down to this. The end of the fourth season of the Formula Drift Championship was both historic and memorable, as some of the greatest drifters on the planet faced off in this final showdown. In the points race, three were in contention for the coveted 1st place trophy, with Tanner Foust, Chris Forsberg, and Dai Yoshihara all battling it out to the very end.

As each moved through top 16 contention, it came down to a formidable battle between Dai and Chris that was capped off with an almost too close to call one more time matchup that had every single person in the “House of Drift” yelling and on their feet. But in the end it was the consistency of Foust in the yellow AEM/Memphis Car Audio 350Z edging out Forsberg in the all 350Z finale, allowing him to bring home the 1st place trophy and earning him his first Formula D Championship.

As if the standing room only crowd at Irwindale wasn’t indication enough, Formula D’s popularity continues to rise as the drivers improve and the series and sport gain notoriety. Modified was invited to a sneak peak of the ESPN2 coverage that is inaugural to this season and we were very impressed with the presentation. With this additional exposure and ever increasing sponsor participation, drift fans can only expect bigger and better things come 2008. The first event of the season kicks off once again at the Streets of Long Beach, and you can expect Modified Mag to be there in full force to bring you the best Formula D coverage anywhere!
