Top Drift’s third of four competition rounds for 2015 is in the books, and the names we’ll likely be seeing added to next year’s Formula Drift Pro 2 roster are starting to emerge. Claiming his second event win of the year, Trent Beechum and his urban-camo, LS-powered S14 are on fire (thankfully not literally) in the points chase, but are trailed hotly by first-round winner (claiming Fourth in this third round) Adam Knapik and his red-chrome-wrapped, LS-powered S14 – by a margin of just two points.
But a close 40 and 42 points, respectively, from the lead and within striking distance are Joe Tardiff and Kenny Chieu, who’ve each proven themselves as upset-worthy threats. And then there’s the steadily-improving Matt Madrigali, who clinched Second at Round 3 and we’d guess has no problem ruining someone’s season championship contention. Remember these names – with the level of skill, build power and dedication to the sport we’ve seen from these guys, we wouldn’t be surprised if their names prove to be among the biggest of drifting’s next generation.
Click through these shots from Round 3 of 2015 Top Drift competition, at Walt James Stadium (probably the worst-lit venue of the Willow Springs Raceway tour), and join us back for the season-finale fourth event at Willow Speedway, Aug. 28-29th.
