Honda wheelmen close out the first of two competition seasons this year

VTEC Club — Southern California's self-sanctioned competition series among Honda drivers, operating within select Extreme Speed track events — last weekend celebrated the close of their first of two season competitions for 2015. Consisting of five judged time-attack track events held at various Willow Springs International Raceway circuits (with one at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway for good measure), VTEC Club competition provided classes and prizes for nearly every configuration of Honda, and the competition saw entrants ranging from work-in-progress DC2s and EFs, to bone-stock ninth-gen Civics, to a pretty rad NSX and S2000 (the latter of which ran 300-series tires — in the front!)

Group A competition (Unlimited Class) saw Tony Fuentes drive that mean S2K of his into first place for this final Season 1 event, also earning Season 1 championship honors in the process. Group N (Street Class) competition saw another roadster clinch overall season honors, driven by VTEC Club committee member Matt Rojana, despite his competing in — and winning — Group A2 (Modified Class) as well for the final race. Earning Season 1 top honors in A2 was a name you might be familiar with: Robert Choo, former editor of renowned print mag Turbo. And in N2 (Fun Class), Raceline USA's Matt Eugenio dominated both the final event and the entire first season.

VTEC Club's second 2015 season begins July 18th at Streets of Willow, and features another five rounds of competition at tracks including Big Willow, Buttonwillow, and Auto Club Speedway. Getting involved is easy: head over to Extreme Speed's VTEC Club page for details, and then find the "VTEC Club Competitors" Facebook group to engage in the mandatory pre- and post-event friendly trash talking and buffoonery (as well as tech help, event coordination, parts listings, and other good stuff).

Click through these images for more, and if you see any of these names across your social networks, be sure to give them a big "CONGRATS!" — or a friendly hard time.
